                                       I
Xavier Lorenzo never had trouble doing anything in life.  Of course, that was predictable, considering he was a prodigy child.
From the time Xavier was born, he was a prodigy child.  When he was four years old, he showed his parents a model he made himself of the inner mechanisms of the Eiffel Tower.  The outside of the tower was made of clear plastic, so you could see inside the tower.  When his parents asked how he made it, he told them he saw the tower on TV and figuring out the inner structure was easy as pie.
Another time he re-created several of Leonardo Da-Vinci's most famous works, including the Mona Lisa, which was relatively close to what the actual paintings looked like.  The paintings themselves hung up on the wall of their house, and most people thought Xavier's parents stole art for a living when they walked in.  One time the police were called on the family and the paintings were taken away for several days, and then returned after being tested false as the real paintings.  The police gave them an apology, but it wasn't really a good one.
He was 13 years old now, and a senior in high school.  His teachers often said he was a cheetah, speeding though and catching his prey.  Xavier agreed, as he was supposed to be in eighth grade right now, but due to his incredibly high IQ and grasp on knowledge, he was bumped up to a senior.  He understood everything his teachers told him, and even corrected and taught their lessons because he was actually smarter than them.  The school liked him, but he didn't necessarily like them.  They always suggested that he take the hardest classes, as if they wanted him to fail.  He never did though, and pleased his teachers immensely.
The bad side to his life was that there were always men in cloaks following him, as if he was the final piece to a puzzle.  Wherever he went, the store, a different state, his home country of England, anything, they always followed him.  The men in black were experts in stealth, as they always made Xavier look like a crazy person because whenever Xavier pointed them out to his mom, they would disappear.  He always felt conflicted because of this.  Maybe he was going crazy.  In the future, he knew he wasn't going crazy back then.
Xavier didn't have much of a social life.  He switched grades too often to make lasting friends.  But this year, he met a girl named Nicole, who was exactly like him, prodigy child, skipped a couple grades, bullied by the older kids, etc.  They shared the same teachers, kids, problems, and all sorts of things that bothered prodigy children.  Lots of people teased Xavier that Nicole was his girlfriend; Nicole was more like an academic mentor.  But just as his life would soon, that changed too.
Senior year had been pretty cool, for the most part.  Teachers decided that instead of pushing him to his limits let him chill out for once.  He still had his 4.0 GPA, as he never really needed to actually try and put effort into things in school.  He actually didn't want to discover his actual brain power yet.  To be completely honest, it scared him a bit, as hard as it was to believe.
People said that Xavier had the potential to tear down the world, brick by brick, and rebuild it, each structure looking even more fantastic than the next.  Xavier quietly agreed, and tried not to boast.  Xavier often took little or no pride in his work, because he hated narcissists who believed they were the best.  He found that having no pride allowed him to be somewhat of a smarter person.
The number of science fairs Xavier won, he couldn't count.  In the K-12 year round private school he went to, they had a science fair each month.  He had dominated every science fair since September of 1999, where he won the kindergarten contest by building an electric guitar in front of them.  The guitar eventually was sold to a popular band, and was used at nearly every show the band played.  It ended with Xavier building a particle accelerator that Harvard College ended up buying.  The reason he really won, was because he was original with every invention he made.  And his school loved creativity.  In the end, every one of the science fairs from 1999 to 2011 was won by Xavier Lorenzo.  A school legend, they called him, remembered forever through this plaque dedicated to you.
So point blank, he was smart.  Too smart, his mom always said, but in a joking way.  His mom, like everyone around him, always expected too much out of him.  Of course he could cope with almost anything.  But with his mom, it was almost like she expected Xavier to change the world with every breath.  Well, perhaps it would be better if I gave a description of her.
She was a beautiful woman.  She had short black hair, dangling just past her shoulders.  She was slender and slim, and was of Italian descent.  She had a strong accent years ago, but after moving to London, then New Jersey, her accent faded drastically.  You could still hear it in her voice, but not nearly as much as you used to.  She was tall, about 5'11 so she usually towered over most women.  Her dad said she was like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, except she only leaned when she was drunk.
His dad was a funny man.  He was a comedian, so he wasn't always around.  But he always made his visits excellent.  He earned a lot of money, so he always took the time to take Xavier and his mom places.  The Gateway Arch, The Grand Canyon, The Four Corners, Mount Rushmore, The Eiffel Tower, Pompeii eruption ruins, Ground Zero, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, The Coliseum, The Pyramids and Machu Picchu were just a few places.  He'd been all over the world to amazing and exotic places.  The downside was the men in black cloaks.  They always followed him, no matter what.
But now, like any good narrator, I must step out, and let the story take place.  I am pained to say goodbye, because I sit here in my house alone, waiting for a friend to come along.  But alas, we shall meet again, I promise.  So I bid you farewell and wish you a good story.  Goodbye.
This is the story of the child genius, Xavier Da Vinci Lorenzo. Enjoy
